My Story

Hi, my name is Buddy and not too long ago I lost my way.  I am a 10-year-old bagel (basset hound and beagle) and I ended up in a very nice family’s front yard. They took me in, gave me a bath, clipped my nails, and took me to the vet. It turned out; I had a microchip with my family’s information on it so they called to let them know I had been found. They told this nice family, who took me in, that they didn’t want me anymore and they could keep me. The nice family called Suncoast Basset Rescue to see if they could help find me my forever family. SBR found a wonderful woman to foster me, and I think she sort of lost her way too when her last basset passed away. He left a hole in her heart that I’m now doing my best to fill. I make her laugh with my silly antics, and I go for walks with her to pick up her granddaughter from school. She helps me too as I’m heartworm positive and the vet says I have a heavy load. I have some heart damage because of it too but I’m undergoing treatment to take care of them. My foster mom has been taking such great care of me though and the vet thinks I’ll be okay once we get rid of these heartworms. Buddy is not yet cleared for adoption because of his medical issues but check back to follow his progress on getting healthy.
