My Story
It seems like an all too familiar story but, Fred came to SBR not long after his dad died. Family members who took Fred in, said he was not well cared for by his dad though. He came to them covered in fleas and had no regular veterinarian care. Also, Fred was not getting fed on a regular schedule, and sometimes he didn’t even get any food at all! Fred is around 12 years old. He is getting lots of TLC from his foster mom and is definitely coming out of his shell and looking for snuggles. He was underweight but has been steadily gaining and is looking much better. He recently had a dental and we think this has made him feel more like eating. His foster mom says when he feels safe, he will wag his tail, paw at her for attention and dance with a big smile on his face. Fred has had a rough life and change has been hard for him. Since he has been slowly adjusting to his new, improved life, SBR thinks that it’s in Fred’s best interest to let him live out the rest of his life with his foster mom and basset siblings.
