Approximately 8-12 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year and approximately 5-9 million are euthanized. Shelter intakes are about evenly divided between those relinquished by owners and those picked up by animal control.

Suncoast Basset Rescue Inc. will take in an owned relinquish dog

If we have the space and resources available to accept your dog and if the relinquished animal meets our requirements, we can place the Basset.

Every year, 3.3 million dogs enter shelters and 670,000 are euthanized because shelters are too full. Therefore, Bassets already in shelters are a priority for Suncoast, and we are not always able to get all of them out in time. We work hard to save as many dogs as we can.

For liability reasons, Suncoast Basset Rescue Inc. is unable to consider any dog that has bitten for placement through or with our rescue program. If you have any questions regarding this issue or extenuating circumstances, please contact SBR directly or explain the problem on the comment section of the Information Review Form. This information will then be reviewed by SBR, and a determination made as to whether we can accept the dog.
