My Story

Hi, my name is Henry.  I’m a senior male and I’m a forever foster with Suncoast Basset Rescue. I suffer from separation anxiety and thunderstorm anxiety. The separation anxiety means I’m very afraid when I’m left home alone, and I will do anything to try to find my people.  My family thought it was best to relinquish me to the care of Suncoast Basset Rescue.  My family could not be home with me all the time, nor could they take me with them everywhere.  It was hard for them to give me up but now I live with my foster family and I’m never alone.  I have 5 foster siblings that are bassets and there is always someone home with me, so I am doing so much better now.  I’m a very happy camper. My foster dad is helping me to overcome my fear of being alone by building my confidence and letting me know that nothing bad will happen to me.  My humans can go run errands for short periods of time now.  I’m not afraid while they’re gone because I know they will be back shortly.  I’ve been told that I’m super sweet and I give great kisses.  It’s because of my severe anxiety that I will stay with my foster family forever. If I were to move to another family, my anxiety would probably get bad again.
