My Story

Hi, my name is Cartman. I’m a 7-year-old male basset. I’m about 45 lbs., I’ve been neutered and I’m up to date on all my shots. I am, however, heartworm positive but I’m being treated for these worms and I’m hoping to be rid of them soon. I did have a few lumps and bumps on my tail and back but those have all been removed.  I came to Suncoast Basset Rescue because my mom had to move, and she couldn’t take me with her. That made me sad but I’m having the best time with my foster family. My foster mom says that I’m the sweetest dog, I’m very affectionate and my tail is always wagging. She also says I’m goofy and that I can be kind of oblivious about my foster sisters which can make them grumpy, but they will still play with me anyway. What I really like is hanging out with my humans. I would love to have a forever home where someone was around a lot and included me in activities. I sleep at the end of my foster mom and dad’s bed. I also like to nap on the couch. My foster mom says it would be important that my forever family be okay with me sleeping on the furniture. I love to go for walks and go for rides in the car. Of course, this is in between the many naps that I require throughout the day.  In my previous home I did not get out much in the world to meet new people and see new things, but my foster family is taking me out to the beach and other places. My foster mom says I’ve done well with that. I get fed separately from my foster siblings because I really like my food and their food. I can be possessive of my food too, so mom says it’s just best to feed me by myself.  Also, because I like food so much, I’ve learned how to be an expert at sniffing out the good stuff in the trash and counter surfing too.  But don’t let that deter you from filling out an adoption application on me because my good points far out way any of bad basset hound ways.
