My Story

 Hi, my name is Opie and I’m a 6-year-old male basset hound.  I ended up with Suncoast Basset Rescue because my mom and dad got divorced.  I was living with my dad but he’s a firefighter and I was spending a lot of time by myself.  My dad felt really bad about that, but he felt even worse about giving me up.  I didn’t mind because now, I get tons of attention with my foster mom, and I have a really cool foster basset brother too.  My foster mom says I’m the sweetest boy.  The only issue she can see with me is my fear of the vet.  I have to take some drugs before I go because I really don’t like it there.  My foster mom had to take pictures of my teeth before we went because she’s pretty sure I need to get a dental done and wasn’t sure if I would let the vet look in my mouth.   I probably wouldn’t have.  My foster mom is going to try just bringing me to the vet for no good reason to show me nothing bad will happen there.  My foster mom is having some work done to her house and I love those construction guys.  The more I bark and carry on, the more they come and play with me.  The boss guy even stays late to play with me.  I’m having the best time ever.  In case you want to know, I’m housebroken, leash trained and I’m good with other dogs and kids.  I’m not yet cleared because I think I need to have my teeth cleaned.
