My Story

Hi it’s me, Rosco!  I’m only 4 years old.  I’m neutered and up to date on all my shots.  I do suffer from chronic ear infections, and I think it has to do with my life prior to coming to Suncoast Basset Rescue.  I had a pretty rough start to life and was living in a hoarding situation where I was locked in a crate with another basset hound for many hours at a time with no fresh food, water, or exercise.  Fortunately, I was rescued by animal control, who knew that SBR would be able to find the best forever home for me.  Despite all of that, I am a lover.  All I want is to be next to you as often as I can.  I am my foster mama’s shadow.  I am very mild mannered, unless you are another dog.  I am not too fond of them, but I have made a couple of doggy friends.  I am a quick learner and I’m housebroken now.  I’ve also mastered sit and come.  I enjoy my daily walks and do well on the leash, even when other dogs walk past.  However, if they try to greet my foster mama, I growl at them (she’s mine!).  I’m not very vocal for a basset hound and I LOVE soft toys.  My favorite toy is what my foster mama has appropriately named “Yucky Ducky” because I love to bury him and dig him up.  My favorite pastimes are cuddling, chasing lizards, cuddling, napping, and cuddling.  I’m still receiving medical care because I get pretty bad ear infections, but you can check back here for updates on my progress.
